Gonna try something different with the coloring in this chapter. HapyCow, if you're out there, let me know how this goes.

Versailles? Let's hope that Tona won't end up like Marie Antoinette...

You mean Florida.

Whoops, close enough.

Nice house. Is this a meet and greet of unsavoury types? (Who am I kidding. They've all been unsavoury up to this point)

It's not a house, it's the palace of a king.

Nothing against the late great Tenaway, but this place would put his to shame for its shamelessness. And yeah, this was the meeting I was going to give him a cameo at.

...it would be a shame if something happened to it.

I look forward to seeing this opulent mansion shot to all hell

Yeah, it's already shot through with corruption.

Unfortunately, as reality is my coauthor, I can't blast the crap out of an actual location... nor as an American would I desire that.

This looks amazing. I've been campaigning the previous volumes this weekend, and the development of the artwork is a story in itself. I love how these characters have grown... I don't know, deeper i guess is the word. And the art has too, both in the sense that it has a visual depth and emotional heaviness.

Appreciated. Tona was a caricature, Eric was a self-insert, Sam was wish fulfillment, and Sonja was a fantasy. Glad to hear that they've grown a little bit.

Versailles... are we going to be seeing breaking glass?

Maybe just rolling heads.

You sweet-talker! I was referencing some of the history of the building/furnishing of Versailles though, particularly 17th century politics of the Venetian monopoly on mirrors, and assassination orders against the Venetian artisans brought to France.

Look under the heading of 'cost' if you want only that part of the story: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palace_of_Versailles

Yeah, I need to read up on that place...

Wow, now there's a way to burn through a few hours.

And if the Fifth Republic can recognize that wasted blood and treasure is still blood and treasure, well, damn, now I want to visit the place.

Whoops, sorry, didn't mean to subtract hours from your schedule.

As far as what to do with Versailles in the present goes, heck yeah, make a museum out of it. People need to learn that greed and pride make death somehow. If visitors learn a little extra about obsolescence and the scale of time while they're there it's a bonus.
