Holy dear god this scene has been a nightmare to write (pro tip: have a script). But I think I've got it now... enjoy the whisky!

Whenever I'm slamming my head into the wall over dialogue, one of the more productive ways I have of procrastinating is to design fake products and let me tell you what it is great fun making labels for booze.

Tona is simultaneously the best and worst girlfriend ever. She brings presents and PTSD when she visits.

HA HA HA HA

It's really f---ed up, but if Tona took a step back even she would be able to see a lot of icky gross reasons why she and Eric couldn't keep their hands off each other... they have very similar ideas of what constitutes "dinner and a movie".

The name of that whiskey... strangely familiar...

Strong as a horse's kick to the teeth, but also surprisingly sweet and understated. The big worldwide producers and its rival distillers praise its craftsmanship... unfortunately, for something as good as it is, it can be regretfully difficult to find.

Felicia is finally asking what we readers have been wondering too: What the heck is it precisely that Tona wants from her??
They way things have unfolded so far, it seems to be a more elaborate scheme than simply intimidating or even murdering Felicia. So Tona doesn't want Felicia to just omit doing something (like investigating a specific issue), but instead tries to convince/manipulate her to do something specific for her?

Also, did Tona just sort of compliment Felicia by saying that she wouldn't be easy to kill??

Tona would have to deal with Captain Smiley before she gets to Felicia...

What? No Olde Claymore? lol

Thanks for bringing up the lack of Olde Claymore, because that was a conscious decision.

Olde Claymore is a blended, low-end whisky that college kids and old alcoholics drink when they want to class it up a notch. While it's not at the price point of Three Roses, you can find it in the same aisle of the package store. Depending on your "constitution", both will give you something ranging from bubbleguts to a raging hangover from drinking the recommended serving (half a bottle).

damn I've thought about this a little too much

To put it nicely, Felicia is not a fan.

Soon you'll have enough fake whiskey brands to fill a liquor store...

You should totally do a fight scene in a liquor store! Lots of easily breakable glass for collateral damage!

I know just the guy to do it, but he's a little uh occupied right now.

Also: come on, Fabs, even with custom brushes that's almost an insanely tall order to depict that many bottles + labels in various states of 'splosions. Not that I won't eventually take a shot at it... damn, now you're getting me thinking.

I am skeptical: Sane people don't threaten the ones they're trying to recruit with a knife. So either that's not the whole and complete truth of what Tona is trying to accomplish here, or....

On top of all her other flaws, she uses hateful slurs about the disabled. Makes it harder to buy her desire for redemption.

@NK: Thank you for noticing the use of that slur, as it was a deliberate choice on my part.

Tona largely doesn't use profanity. However, the fact that she wouldn't file the word above (which I personally revile) into an unusable category is in keeping with a character who uses "Indians" vice "Native Americans" as a matter of fact. There's things that she's clueless about, there's things that she doesn't bother to care about, these things are reflected in her word choice. If confronted, I have no doubt that she'd roll her eyes and mutter something about "ok whatever political correctness".

That doesn't make it right. The word above is dehumanizing and that she uses it casually does say something unflattering about her.

One last thing--I think Tona's original insult was something like "an incompetent nepotist" which is totally, totally out of character, something that maybe Sam might use... his voice is closer to my own.

Crack open the bottle and let's get to the Devil's bargain. It might sound good on the surface but there's always a catch.

Imbibe too much and there's always consequences. Here's it's Felicia's freedom of action.

I would hope that you don't actually know anyone this destructive. I mean, Felicia may be stainless steel, but she's hanging around some very corrosive types for way, way longer than anyone in their right mind should.
