Should there be another major terrorist attack during this administration... man, I don't even want to finish that sentence.

edit: yeah yeah yeah feel free to shoot back at me--I love me some unsubscribes--on this but I'm with Tona on this one. The Flag wasn't meant to fly so low so often. Salute it or kneel for it, turn your back on it or burn it, call it a symbol of hope or of oppression or of whatever you want, but I do not like this recent obsession with flying it at half mast for any reason whatsoever. America is proud and scary and flawed and here to stay and don't nobody forget it.

Bite your tongue. I didn’t want to think that thought. :-|

Also, panel 1, is SOMEONE reaching for her...

As a political entity, America is a schoolyard bully who pleads that they're an innocent victim whenever bruised-- sadly, a lot of people die including American citizens for that metaphor to happen

The worlds not a schoolyard. We are what we are.

You really come up with this stuff on the fly?

As dumb as it sounds, yes. Dialogue is rarely older than five days, and most art is done within 48 hours.

This is an appalling way to live and I don’t advise it.

- The 20th century ended on November 9th 1989 (fall of he Berlin Wall, end of the Cold War) - and the 21st century began on September 11th 2001.

- Seeing college-age Tona here, it's interesting to revisit the LIR-verse comics from that point in time. The exact publishing dates of these strips (provided that they are canonically of relevance in the first place) don't seem to be clearly discernible to me though. So I wonder if Tona was into political activism before, or if it was in fact triggered by 9/11th...
I bet that for many people in her age bracket, this was indeed their exact moment of "political awakening"...

- Lastly, it seems Tona acts here a guest commenter on a radio show? (And she does know that the listeners can't actually see her cleavage, right??)

-Let's not treat Bush/Clinton like it was some sort of golden age or pause in history. It wasn't. But it did spawn the internet.

-The dates are fairly relevant and you can see one with Sonja where it's obvious that 9/11 happened recently (edit: happened a year previous). That last panel replicates a color page I did that is lost to the mists of time.

-Tona's calling in to a FOX News program. And as any astute student of FOX knows, there is only one member of the audience who matters at all... and he can see her cleavage.

Okay, here it goes something that can be shocking. People in other countries bet it was the CIA that attacked the Twin Towers, not the Islamic State or whatever Middle East nation they're blaming (many countries don't even believe in the existence of an Islamic State). Just reporting what other countries think about that attack in a foreign perspective that hears people around the world.

And me? I'm just an apolitical mutant potato who doesn't understand those things XD

Full-blown conspiracy theories dominating the day-to-day discourse is something that's supposed to happen elsewhere, not here in America. The fact that FOX News regularly panders to the tinfoil hat crowd is one of the reasons America is in trouble.

At least, it gives a wonderful inspirational stuff for fictional stories :) (I'm using it a lot)
