OK, back from travel, going day-by-day on the buffer. I greatly appreciate your comments and will catch up on replying to them shortly.

***

If you aren't reading Crow Jane and Marblegate I strongly encourage you to check these two creators out. They're outside of the genres covered by Saturday Night Syndicate, but they're spectacular.

Is Allie Jewish or is that just some collateral bigotry in the first panel?

Hope your trip was well and ended well, and thank you for the suggestions.

1) I mean, Judaism is a friggin' religion so I have no idea whatsoever how they're identifying her as an adherent. That said, Nazis.

2) The trip was awful. Never doing that again.

3) Those are two who I've noticed get a fraction of the attention/credit that they deserve. I mean, why the hell do I have any comments when Crow Jane routinely has maybe one or two (besides me)? And I know you'll never get a login, but Marblegate should be on Popular Now every time it posts, its characters are that winsome.

This isn't to discount the effort that others here put towards their own works, it's just that the disparity on those two is sadly ridiculous.

So just general antipathy and assholish tendencies, huh? Yeah, perfect fit under the heading of collateral bigotry.

You've been doing this for years, and that makes a difference: Webcomic readership tends to be built up and lost over years outside of short-term increases in traffic from particular promotions. There are other reasons why webcomics usually have readership disproportionate to their relative quality: These include frequency and regularity of updates, niche community appeal, fan-service, cross-promotion, and internet drama.

It's true that Crow Jane and other pro quality titles are amazing, but for most people (in my opinion) to succeed in getting an active readership on Comic Fury you have to be a good social networker, fist and foremost. By going and finding, reading and commenting on other people's work, you give your audience of mostly artists a bit of legitimacy. In turn, they want to engage you back. A lot of great webcomic artists don't take the time to handle the social marketing, but great art (and even sometimes great story) aren't enough anymore to guaranteed an active community.

So says the social schmoozing master!

TBH I’m getting closer to a tipping point where I significantly back off on CF forum posting and switch to Tapas. They’re distinctly more vanilla over there (aka boring), but that forum has totally overtaken CF in raw activity.

Tapastic has a forum more active than CF's? I didn't know it. I go there (not quite often) and it looks pretty dead to me. I mean, the community is great there, but the threads are the same over and over in Tapas. Maybe it's time to check them out again.

Yeah, I see you commenting on tons of comics over there already... that activity is its own testimony to the strength of that site.

My main problem with their forums is that they tend towards an uninformed libertarian-ish stance on political issues... there were notable pro-Trump voices there lol

You know, chase scenes with fast vehicles always make me think of this little piece of music...

We'll see how much of a chase I give Allie. I need to move on to the next chapter so badly.

I fuggin knew this chick was badass.

Sam should be thankful that someone is looking out for him in this mess at least.

Maybe I'm saying something about the Fourth Estate, but in some ways Sam is Felicia's male equivalent.
