On further reflection, I think The Sopranos is a better HBO metaphor for the current administration...

And speaking of Mar A Lago, I hope that everyone in Florida regardless of political persuasion is finding safety from the current hurricane.

They have the "Mobile Sedition Vigilance" logo on their swimming trunks! Did the budget Tona used for buying friggin custom swimming trunks for a bunch of Neo-Nazis come from tax money??

I'm going to say... yes, yes it did come from tax money.

And you think we Americans only splurge our money on weapons systems!

Tona IS a weapons system...

@Sigpig: Next chapter I'll show you how very true that statement is.

Heh, thanks.

For someone who was long ago portrayed as the asshole of the cast, Sam is coming through as a stand up guy.

Al Capone used to say he was just a businessman. I'd say there's a fair point in that, and I would point at negative business externalities* as the reason why. The biggest difference between a criminal and a businessman is that the criminal is the one who got convicted. Until then it's just the free market trying to match up supply and demand.

Weeeeeellll between businessman and criminal, I wouldn't be totally convinced of which category Mr. Trump is going to eventually wind up in.

Even if he does get convicted of something, somehow, he's got enough money and pull that may not be the final word anyway: He can certainly afford to appeal all the way to the Supreme Court.

My point is that calling him a businessman is very much not a term of respect or approval to anyone who has a well-informed understanding of what a businessperson is, and does. Instead, I use the word as the insult it properly should be considered as, comparable to the less ambiguously insulting terms, "hustler," "opportunist,' and, "confidence artist."

I think I speak for all reasonable Jews when I say that the goyim can take Ivanka back, because we sure as shit don't want her

Here comes the expendibles. Or would "walking plausible deniability" be more appropriate?

Sam, you idiot, don't laugh. He's sliding this country into an honest-to-goodness fascist state.

And... cue goon squad...

Let's be real, Prof.

Fascists have hella more fashion sense than those who resist them.

(Which would make Ivanka not a fascist!)

Not entirely true I'd say. Maybe I'm nitpicking too much, but does it really count as their fashion sense if they *employ* very nice fashion designers to make their uniforms spiffy, or copy spiffy things other people wear? I will agree they usually tend to have thuggish understanding of the power of appearance though.
